Prof. Aidong Zhang, University of Virginia, USA (IEEE Fellow; ACM Fellow)
Prof. Aidong Zhang is a William Wulf Faculty Fellow and Professor of Computer Science, with a joint appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and School of Data Science at University of Virginia. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) for her contributions to bioinformatics, data mining and multimedia data indexing. And she has won the National Science Foundation CAREER Award in 1998. Furthermore, she comes to Grounds from a three-year stint as a program director for the National Science Foundation’s Division of Information and Intelligent Systems.
Prof. Zhang develops data mining and machine learning approaches to modeling and analysis of structured and unstructured data with a variety of applications, especially biomedical applications. Her research interests focus on machine learning, data mining, bioinformatics and health informatics.
