Prof. Yuping Wang, Biomedical Engineering, Tulane University, USA


Dr. Yu-Ping Wang received the BS degree in applied mathematics from Tianjin University, China, in 1990, and the MS degree in computational mathematics and the PhD degree in communications and electronic systems from Xi’an Jiaotong University, China, in 1993 and 1996, respectively. After his graduation, he had visiting positions at the Center for Wavelets, Approximation and Information Processing of the National University of Singapore and Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. From 2000 to 2003, he worked as a senior research engineer at Perceptive Scientific Instruments, Inc., and then Advanced Digital Imaging Research, LLC, Houston, Texas. In the fall of 2003, he returned to academia as an assistant professor of computer science and electrical engineering at the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He is currently a full Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Global Biostatistics & Data Sciences at Tulane University School of Science and Engineering & School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine. He is also a member of Tulane Center of Bioinformatics and Genomics, Tulane Cancer Center and Tulane Neuroscience Program. His research interests have been computer vision, signal processing and machine learning with applications to biomedical imaging and bioinformatics, where he has over 200 peer reviewed publications. He has been on numerous program committees and NSF and NIH review panels, and served as editors for several journals such as J. Neuroscience Methods, and IEEE/ACM Trans. Computational Biology and Bioinformatics. His recent effort has been bridging the gap between biomedical imaging and genomics. 王玉平教授 拥有丰富的数学统计,信号处理,生物信息学, 成像科学、脑科学,基因组学,图像处理以及生物医学仪器开发等跨领域的学科知识和经验。曾先后在天津大学,西安交大,新加坡国立大学,美国华盛顿大学,感知科学仪器公司,密苏里大学和目前的杜兰大学学习和工作,从事过不同学科领域的教学研究和开发工作。其中2011-2014期间被聘为上海东方学者讲座教授在上海理工大学协助创办系统医学研究中心。自1999年起在华盛顿大学医学院从事MRI 成像(磁共振成像)的博士后研究工作,开始了生物医学信息的跨学科研究。在进入Missouri-Kansas City大学(UMKC) 和杜兰大学(Tulane University)之前,在生物行业领域内他获得了NIH(美国全国卫生研究所)小型企业创新研究奖(SBIR)多项奖金的资助,并与休斯敦贝勒医学院(BCM)合作进行了各种基因组成像技术研究和开发,从事了包括染色体G显带(G-banding)、FISH/M-FISH和微阵列(microarray imaging)等技术的研发工作。他是开发PowerGeneTM染色体核型分析系统和PowerProbeTM FISH系统的关键成员,目前这两个系统正由Applied Imaging Inc(应用成像公司在销售在2003年秋季回到学术界后,在重要的国际期刊和会议上发表200多篇论文, 作为项目责任人研究工作得到了美国NSF, NIH 和工业部门的资助,并当选为美国医学生物工程学院会士 (Fellow of AIMBE),是Journal of Neurosciences Methods, IEEE/ACM Trans.
